SEE: COLUMBIA ROAD FLOWER MARKET

24 Mar 2014

The Columbia Road Flower Market is located in East London off Hackney Road. It is only open on Sundays from 8AM to 3PM, so keep in mind, it WILL be madness. Columbia Road is quite narrow to begin with, but add flower vendors on both sides of the street and Londoners walking in opposite directions, you get quite. the. cluster. There is very little room to move around once you enter the market. I found it a bit claustrophobic; I desperately wanted to use my elbows, but trust me, it's worth it in the end.

Fresh flowers are available all over London, but the Columbia Road Flower Market is your one stop shop for bulbs, fresh herbs, seeds, fruit trees, plants, shrubs, bedding and more, all for a reasonable price. Most of the stalls have some sort of deal for three bunches for £10, or three for £5 depending on the flower, regardless, you will find a deal that works for your budget.

Though Columbia Road is known mostly for its foliage, there is also an array of pubs, cafes, restaurants and vintage street shops to appeal to any taste. Between the fragrant scent of fresh flowers, the open air and the lingering sound of a relaxing tune, it is easy to walk around with a smile on your face. In my opinion, it's the perfect way to start your Sunday morning!

SEE: CAMDEN MARKET

23 Mar 2014

The Camden Market is in the heart of Camden Town, located just next to the Camden Town Tube Station. Be prepared for a crowd of tourists, apparently this market attracts something like 100,000 people each weekend. The market is mainly retail, but there is some food scattered in between and you will find food stands across the street in the west yard...? Not 100% on the name of it. It was, in fact, very touristy and not my particular style. This market is definitely catered to a younger, hipster demographic.  It's definitely a cool place; lots to do and see, especially since you have the Regent's Canal flowing through it. I did like some of the graphic tees and tank tops that you could get for two for £10-- I could see myself wearing one with a black blazer, jean cut-offs and my Frye motorcycle boots. Maybe I will go back and grab one for when the weather gets a bit warmer!

SEE: BOROUGH MARKET

18 Jan 2014

I met my friend Allison at the Borough Market for lunch last week. She works just a block or so away, so she gets to enjoy this gem for lunch almost anytime she wants-- and I am very jealous of that!

Borough Market is one of the most popular markets in London. It is a huge market filled with all types of prepared food stands (for lunch) as well as stands for meat, fish, produce, cheese, bread, sweets, wine, spices, etc...

It is a very popular place to come for lunch or a mid-day pint.

I only got pictures at the grocery stands because the crowds surrounding the prepared food were too much of a hassle.

I can't wait to take J to this market. I know he is going to love it!
