WALKABOUT LONDON

20 Jan 2014

Follow me on a walkabout around South East and East Central London!

I started out at the Borough Market and took a couple pictures of local buildings, the Shard and a local church.
I crossed over the London Bridge, walked down along the River Thames towards the Tower of London and Tower Bridge.
I got distracted by something shiny in the sky. "IT'S THAT EGG! MUST FIND THAT EGG!"
Sooooo, I went a little off course to find and take a picture of the Gherkin Building.
And then I quickly found myself back at the Tower Bridge.
Enjoy the pictures!
My legs hurt...

SEE: BOROUGH MARKET

18 Jan 2014

I met my friend Allison at the Borough Market for lunch last week. She works just a block or so away, so she gets to enjoy this gem for lunch almost anytime she wants-- and I am very jealous of that!

Borough Market is one of the most popular markets in London. It is a huge market filled with all types of prepared food stands (for lunch) as well as stands for meat, fish, produce, cheese, bread, sweets, wine, spices, etc...

It is a very popular place to come for lunch or a mid-day pint.

I only got pictures at the grocery stands because the crowds surrounding the prepared food were too much of a hassle.

I can't wait to take J to this market. I know he is going to love it!

SEE: THE WALLACE COLLECTION

17 Jan 2014

A friend recommended that I check out the Wallace Collection located near Selfridges in West London. When she told me that it was one family's collection of art and furniture in an old town home, I was immediately intrigued-- I haven't seen a personal collection before!

It turns out The Wallace Collection is so much more! This family collected artwork, paintings, arms, armour, china, furniture and so much more for centuries and then widow of Sir Richard Wallace eventually bequeathed the entire collection to the state.
